The controversial animated series ‘South Park’ has received an Emmy nomination for an episode that has ridiculed the Muhammad.
The episode was aired on April and has been banned from being viewed as part of the network’s damage control. Entitled ‘200/201’, the episode ridicules the Islam Prophet Muhammad. The Islam society have been severely affected by the comedy that the show has presented using the image of their Prophet. The Islam society would not permit any visual representation of their prophet.
Creators of ‘South Park’ immediately took action of this matter. Matt Stone and Trey Parker said in an interview that they would not want to end up in a situation like Theo van Gogh.
Theo van Gogh was killed six years ago in Amsterdam by an Islam radical.
Since the show was aired, the network, Comedy Central, has censored the show. The episode has not been replayed since then. Even in the official website of the show, the said episode has been banned. Fans trying to view the controversial episode will get a message saying that the site does not have any approval from the network to televise the said episode.
Even if the show is faced with lots of controversies, the Emmy award giving bodies still sees the show for its outstanding animation. The show is actually nominated for this category.
Comedy Central spokesperson has expressed in a message their gratitude for the achievements that the program has been awarded. However, the spokes person did not mention any news regarding the intention of the network to air the episode again.
